Our Values.
Respect for Authority.
Respect for authority is of utmost importance to live a righteous life. Though, in order to properly practice this value, we must know who holds authority and in what order we are subject to that authority. It is our responsibility to respect proper authority, but keep that authority within their jurisdiction. The order of authority is as such: The Lord God, Princes and Magistrates, The People.
Courage.
We must strive to do what is right no matter the cost. We have a responsibility to pass down liberty to the next generation. Sometimes, we only get one chance to act when it really counts. Courage comes from preparation. Prepare your mind and prepare your tongue. We must have the courage to learn, question, speak, and act when tyranny advances upon us.
Critical Thinking.
We must think critically. Don’t believe anything that you cannot independently verify. We make it our responsibility to seek the truth and not trust others to feed us good information. Thomas Jefferson was credited with the quote, “Question with boldness, even the very existence of God. For if there be a God, surely He would prefer honest questioning over blind-folded fear.”
Liberty.
Liberty is freedom with restraint. A free people have the freedom to do what is good or what is evil. Liberty comes with responsibility. Liberty minded people exercise their freedom as long as it doesn’t infringe upon another’s freedom and it promotes good will. We must not use our gift of freedom for evil, but to grow God’s kingdom and to bring peace to men.
Blog Catagories.
News/Commentary.
Here we will highlight the best or worst stories of the week and I will offer my commentary. I will reference news stories where needed with the intent to provide multiple references. Typical topics include: new laws or edicts, cultural topics, humorous local stories, political fails, or whatever I’m pondering at the time.
America’s Story.
America’s story is the second best story ever told. It’s a story for Americans from every age, nation and race. I will focus on ideas beginning in the 1500s to America’s founding through the 1800s.
Common Lies Dispelled.
We’ve been told lies most of our lives. We’ve heard them in church, at home, and in school. Some are perceived to be harmless, some come from laziness, and some are nefarious. Here, I will dispel lies we’ve heard our whole lives. I’ve spent a decade doing this in my own life and I’ve found truth to be very refreshing.
Community Highlight.
Here we will post highlights from charities and other non-profit organizations working within our communities. Typical highlights: OUR and Nazarene Fund Operations, Mercury One Initiatives, Team Rubicon Operations
Biblical Solid Food.
For those who aren’t Christians, I’ll quote Hebrews 5:13-14, “For everyone who lives on milk is still an infant, inexperienced in the message of righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil.” My advice, read the gospel of John first.
